Translational bioinformatics refers to the development of methods of transformation that optimize storage, analytic, and interpretive methods related to biomedical and clinical data. This refers to genomic data as well, in terms of delivering insights into proactive, predictive and preventive health outcome measures.

Translational bioinformatics also includes research done to further the development of novel techniques that are intended to deliver more efficient integration of biological and clinical data to further to practice of clinical informatics methodology by encompassing biological observations.
